West Africa Student Housing

Ghana Atlantic will develop its first container housing prototype in West Africa this summer. The project is approved and ready to begin construction in June 2009. The expected completion date is August 2009. This prototype will consist of 32 housing units for students. It is only a small part of a larger design to accommodate 500 students on the .5 acre plot.

The site for this project is the Methodist University College campus in Accra. This site is an ideal location for such a prototype due to the dense student populations, the high demand for student housing and the higher rental rates paid in general for Ghana. This allows GAE to better understand development issues in Ghana while mitigating risks and insuring return for investors. GAE is very excited about this project and considers it a big step in a much larger mission to provide affordable housing in West Africa.
